All puppies are doing well. Josie spends most of her time feeding her babies. She is doing an excellent job as far as feeding them and snuggling with them. However, she needs a lesson on bathing them. She is a funny girl. She will stimulate them to pee/poo like she needs to, and will clean that part up, but she isn't giving them an all over bath. They are getting coated with puppy extract.

Buddy and Princessa (Duchess' pups) are still hanging out here. They have become part of our family. Sometimes I forget they are available puppies and need a home. Today another breeder contacted me wanting to know if I have any available cream male puppies that are ready to go now. I told her about Josie's puppies. By the time I remembered Buddy is an available puppy the family she was helping had already found another pup. She said she wished she knew about him because he sounds like what they really wanted. Go ahead...just hit me over the head with a stick.

Teri is really sore today.

Liuda stayed home today, she is sick.

...Teri's bad day...

I got up at 3:00 a.m. to take Petula to the airport. I got home in time to run Bryony to school then rush home and get Jill up and ready for school. My sister Teri took Jill to school and went to the vet to pick something up for me while I stayed home and answered emails. I was sleep deprived and unnecessarily cranky with a couple of people (Sorry Jan and Rachel). I need to be more careful and try not to be so sensitive.

When I was finished answering emails, Teri picked me up. We went to the post office so I could mail Doodle stuff, then we gassed up and drove a couple of hours to my Dad's house. Teri drove so I could do Doodle work. I ordered supplies ($510.00) and worked on organizing my folder. We had a wonderful visit with my father and his wife. We ate, then played dominos, and then went down by the pond. I don't know what Teri was thinking but she was barefoot while we were picking pears. She stepped on a pear that was full of bees. When she was sitting down picking a stinger out of her toe a tiny frog hopped up her pants leg. She jumped up to shake it out, then she sat down in what appeared to be dog poo. Turned out to just be a little pile of mud. Thank goodness, poor Teri.

Teri's truck is broken so Daddy let her take his Tracker home. It is really cute, only has 40,000 miles, and is in great condition. He only used to to drive around on his farm. She lead the way back to the highway. We stopped right before getting on the highway so I could gas up. When I was ready to leave I didn't see Teri or the Tracker so figured she had already left. After driving for a few minutes I got a call on my cell. My heart sank. It was some guy I didn't know and as soon as he said he was calling for Teri I knew something was terribly wrong. She had had an accident and he said the Tracker was totaled. I drove and drove but didn't see her. There was no way I would be able to miss an accident by the side of the road. I called him back and somehow she ended up behind me. I turned around and it seemed like the longest drive in my life trying to hurry back to where she was. It was about 1/2 hour before I got back. Wow, both northbound lanes were blocked off and traffic was backed up as far as I could see. I whipped over and parked on the shoulder of the southbound lane and ran accross the highway. It was terribly dramatic. There was a huge fire truck and police cars with the lights flashing. I was running and running (these Crocs are wonderful shoes but not good for running) and as soon as I was about 100 yards away the police and everybody pulled away and left. man...I don't say swear words, but if I did I would have said a couple then. I walked back to my van and had to drive to the next exit (taking me back to the station from where we started) to get directions to the hospital. The chick working there was so sweet and even drew a map for me. That is good since I can't even find my way out of a shoe box. So, I went back to the correct exit, over the railroad tracks, over the big fancy red bridge (I love getting directions from other women, they are understandable) then...oops, I got lost. Oh well, Columbus isn't very big, I drove around until I found the hospital. So, I finally found her, saw she wasn't hooked up to life support, no bones were sticking out of her body, and she wasn't going to die from this. Whew! then I quickly became appalled at her treatment, or lack thereof. Now I am not an ER nurse and I don't play one on TV. I'm a floor nurse. I understand ER nurses don't always have time for all the little details, but come on, this was shabby care. There was nothing else going one in there, no big emergencies, they weren't busy. I receive about three or four advertisements a week from places trying to recruit me to work for them. This particular hospital is rated as a great place for nurses to work. Now I know why, they don't have to give excellent care. Anyway, Teri did total the Tracker. Her body even bent up the steering wheel. Her neck and back were hurt and she has a history of back troubles. The paramedics were very careful to keep her spine in alignment. As soon as they left her in the ER, the nurses took off the neck brace and had her move this way and that. She let them know how much she was hurting. She even had bumps and scrapes, and could see where she was going to bruise on her face, head, hands, arms, legs, and abdomin where her seatbelt was. Thank goodness she was wearing a seat belt. She had bits of broken glass all over her. Yet they had her move around before they did x-rays. That is a very basic no-no. When I finally got there she was thankfully lying flat on her back. The nurse came in to give her a pain pill and asked if she could sit up to take it. uh no I thought they should x-ray her right hand because it was already bruising, swollen, and was starting to look bad. She is an artest and is right handed. Yet, my concerns were completely dismissed. The nurse person just said "Ah, it'll be fine". When they did the x-rays (of her neck and back only) they had her get up and move all around. She was not only hurting, she was so afraid they doing more damage to her. Then we waited for the results. All this time they never cleaned her wounds, never put any ice on any of the swelling. Turns out thank goodness the x-rays were normal. By now the pain medication kicked in and she was feeling better (but still hurting). I pointed out the bump on her forhead and the reddness on her nose and swelling on the side of her face. That was met with only a shrug. We showed them her swollen leg and foot that was also swollen and turning purple. Again, nothing was done. How are we to know it isn't broken. Her chest hurt, she had abrasions and beginning of bruises on her chest and abdonmin. How do we know her innerds aren't hurt. I told her next time she needs to wreck closer to Indianapolis so she can go to a real hospital and not have to go to a Band-Aide Station. The doctor said he was going to have the nurse clean and dress the abrasions on Teri's hand. When the nurse came in I told him Teri has been dying to get up and wash her hands. He just handed her wash cloth that he had put only warm water on. He told her to wipe her hand. O.k., I figured he wanted her to do that before he properly cleaned it. Nope, he just slapped a band aide on one cut and put a 4x4 and tape on another one. No soap, no normal saline, no H2O2, no nothing. My goodness. Still no ice and they knew we had to drive a couple of hours to get home. So many little things really added up to a not very good impression of that hospital. Teri told me that when they were wheeling her back from the x-ray she wanted to pull the sheet up over her face but she chickened out. That would have been pretty funny.

When we left the hospital we went to the pharmacy store. It was really busy. The paramedics had cut Teri's shirt off so there she was walking around the store in a hospital gown. That was funny too. Man, but she wouldn't drive us home, I had to drive.

Today was a really busy day. Petula and DaVinci went to the vet. DaV had his blood drawn for his annual breeding dog Thyroid check. He sat there good as gold while the vet drew it. He (DaV) weighs 38 pounds. Petula
was also good as gold while she was getting checked out. He couldn't
find anything wrong with her. She weighs 6 pounds 3 ounces now. Man she
is going to be a tiny dood.

When we were finished at the vet
(today's bill: $324.80 that included a bunch of Revolution, that stuff
is really expensive) we went toPetSmart. Petula and DaVinci were so cute. They rode around in the shopping cart and drew so much attention. I'm telling you guys, these doods are chick magnets. We tried out several crates for Petula
to fly home in. There was a nice one that was just her size. For the
same price though, we ended up selecting a larger one that was not as
fancy, but she would have more room in it for the flight home. I wanted
her to have lots of room to play and be comfortable. I couldn't help
myself. When we were going past thedoggie clothes I spotted a hat and Doggles that were very studly looking. I had a pink leash on DaV which I knew his guardian would not approve of. So, I just had to put that hat and Doggles (doggie goggle type of sunglasses) on DaV
to make up for it. He was getting plenty of attention before, but after
putting that on him I might as well have been carrying around a
megaphone announcing his presence. After about five minutes he took off
theDoggles. I put those back but bought the hat. When we left PetSmart we went to the auto repair shop and walked around outside while my van was getting repaired.
Then we went home.

DaVini with his bad boy look.

I was up 'til after midnight getting Petula all packed and ready to go home.

Today we stayed home and played with the puppies. Petula, Duchess' smallest pup is going home this weeks so we are enjoying her while she is here.

This litterbox training the puppies is the thing. I'm going to be doing this from now on. It makes cleaning their area in the morning a snap. Now it takes five minutes instead of 2 hours. However, I don't know how much of that is because they are so tiny. They are only in their play pen area at night. They hang out with us and the rest of the dogs during the day. They are so little and so cute. They are three months old now and the size our other puppies are at six weeks. They are way so much easier to take care of. I just might have to switch to this tiny size completely. No, not really. I love my Velvet line of doods.

I neeeed some chocolate chip cookies, fresh out of the oven all ooey and gooey. I think I will go to bed instead.

Holly went home today. She will go for an ultra sound to confirm pregnancy around Sept. 24th. That is Rosie's due date. I really hope Holly is pregnant. Her retirement
is set for February 2007. I didn't keep a daughter from her first
litter. She didn't get pregnant her next cycle. She just has to get
pregnant this cycle so I can keep a daughter to replace her. At least I
haveMeeko the stud puppy from her. I can always breed him to Mera and keep a girl. That will be a Holly granddaughter and Mera daughter. The same pup can replace both girls. Oh, Mera gets to retire after her next litter too. That is sad.

Josie's
black boy was chosen today. That is funny. There are only two black
pups in her litter and they were the first to be selected. Now I wish I
had bred Holly withKoby for an entire litter of blacks.

One of Duchess' puppy girls, Petula, was selected today. She is going to fly to Texas to go live with a Toy Poodle. There is a Chihuahua and Rat Terrier that live right next door and come over every day to play. That sounds like a cute little dog party.

Today is my dad's birthday. Happy Birthday Daddy, I love you.

Holly and Da Vinci got married again today. They figured it out on their own this time. Da Vinci is 18 inches tall. Holly is 24 inches tall. Last evening I backed Holly up to a box, Da Vinci stood on the box...and um...got to know her a little bit better. Well this morning Holly was hanging out on the couch and that gave DaVinci an opportunity to reach her without help. That is the same place where he was able to nail Mera without help. I'm gonna have to start calling that the doggie luuuve couch.

Da Vinci got another job today. No, not a luuuve job; a babysitting job. He has only know Duchess' pups for a few days and I caught him playing with them then napping with them today. He is such a good boy.
oops, I woke them up.
Da Vinci can have Kori's old babysitting job.

Today I Isaac my nephew's 23rd birthday. Happy Birthday Isaac. He is Teri's son.

Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday to you
Happy Birthday Dear Teri
Happy Birthday to you

Mother do I have to tell my sister I love her? that would be gross
The puppies are doing very well. I just remembered something extremely
important that I forgot to tell you yesterday. When Josie was finished
giving birth I was sitting there with her admiring her puppies and
giving her lots of praise. I picked one of them up and noticed poo on
his little bum. I held his bum up for her to clean and she looked me
steady in the eye for a full three or four seconds and I swear she was
saying "You have got to be kidding...you want me to do what?!" She did
a few tentative licks around the umbilical cord and his boy-part but
kept avoiding the poo. I tried tricking her by scooting his bum to her
tongue but she quit licking for a second and looked at me like "I ate
the placenta, what more do you want? I am style="font-style:italic;">not going there". She did
finally manage to clean it up without throwing up.

The pups are doing really well today. So is Josie. She is turning in to a really good mommy.

can't see, it's too bright out here.
Yummy chocolate.

Tinkerbelle the mini goldendoodle spent the night at our house last night. Josie was a little grouchy with her at first, then quickly got over it. Tink is really cute and friendly. She is only 20 pounds and she is a year old. Anyway, this morning I took her and DaVinci to the doggie eye doctor. We met Holly and her guardian mom there. DaVinci
totally ignored Holly. That surprised me since she is cycling now. I'm
thinking maybe she isn't ready to mate. After I filled out the
paperwork I walkedDaVinci over to her to say and to see his reaction. Hmmm
, he sniffed and licked. Then he wanted to flirt. Maybe she is ready. I
took her away from her. Do you want to know what he did then? He hiked
his leg and Peed on me. I'm not talking about just a dribble or two. I
mean that he justblatantly peed on me and I felt the need to bathe after that. The good news is that these three don't need glasses.

I took a shower when I got home.

This evening I picked up Chevy, his guardian mom Ally, and Francie's guardian mom Liz (but not Francie).
We went to Holly's house so she and Chevy could get married. They were
not entertaining. They didn't do it. We ended up bringing Holly back
with us. So there we were driving down the busy highway. The three of
us, Liz, Ally, and I talking away ...and Holly and Chevy putting on a
show in the back window. I'm sure the people behind us really
appreciated the entertainment. What could we do? We wanted them to do
it, so we couldn't very well make them stop. They kept starting the act
but he never quite made the connection. We drove around and around to
give them more time, but they just never did.

I dropped those guys off and brought Holly home with me. She and Da Vinci fell in love.

Josie had her puppies

I slept on the bathroom floor with Josie last night. Napped is probably a better word because we sure didn't get much sleep. I go up with her at 3:24 a.m. and took her outside to potty. I knew it was really baby time because she kept standing like she was going to poop, then look surprised/confused, and stood up and circled some more. Just about every new mom I've had has done this. I quickly ushered her back inside to our bathroom and encouraged her to get as comfy as possible on her bedding.
She started pushing at 4:05 a.m.

1) 4:57 a.m. she had a cream boy. He was still tightly attached to Josie for about 15 minutes until the placenta came out. So there he was, not completly born, hanging upside down, and he managed to reach a nipple and start nursing. That is one hardy puppy. I was dying for that 15 minutes because I couldn't see what sex he is. Finally he and the placenta finished being born. Josie's instincts kicked right in. Well, maybe not completely. She did lick him and eat the sac he was in. But...she had a difficult time with it. She was licking and gagging, licking and gagging. She even threw up a couple of times. It seems Ms Josie has a strong gag relex and a weak stomach. She wouldn't touch the placenta or even chew the umbilical cord to separate him from it. I pick up the placenta and put it right in front of her and she looked at me as if to say "Uhh...I don't think so". She did take a couple of tentative licks, gagged, then threw up again. It was the funniest thing. I have never seen a dog not able to stomach the birthing process. I clamped and cut the cord and threw away the placenta. This puppy is really cute and looks like he will have a wool coat. We weighs 12 ounces.

2) 5:26 a.m. chocolate male, pretty much the same routine; lick and gagging, licking and throwing up. Again it took about 15 minutes for the placenta to come out. I had to clamp and cut the cord and throw away the placenta. This is a really cute puppy. He has a white small letter "r" on his chest, white fur on the bottoms of his feet, and a white toe on his rear right paw. The r stands for Ray, Josie and DaVinci's guardian dad. This puppy is shiny and will either have a wool or a fleece coat. He weighs 13.6 ounces.

3) 6:13 a.m. Black female, same routine but not quite as bad. This puppy has a wonderful glossy coat and will be a beautiful wavy-curly fleece girl. She weighs 10.7 ounces.

4) 6:40 a.m. black female, She was attached for a long time too. Her face looked much different from any others I've had. It was pointy but not deformed looking. As soon as she was born I checked the palate. I always do that to check for a cleft. Yep, my heart dropped to the basement. She had a large cleft palate. It was more severe than Ellie's. Like any good mother I had to blame myself. I had Josie's hips and elbows rechecked when she was pregnant. The vet assured me it was safe. Still, I wonder. Another thing I did that I shouldn't have, I put a bark collar on her for the first time when she was four weeks old. I shouldn't have done that. It scared the daylights out of her and she screamed the first time she barked while wearing it. I remember reading someplace that if a dog gets a fright at a certain time during the pregnancy it can cause a cleft palate in a puppy. I can't help but think that is what happened. Anyway, after everything Ellie went through (cleft palate), and everything Baby Junior went through (runty baby), I swore I wouldn't go through that again. I had planned on letting nature take its course. I tried to, I really did. I put her close to Josie so she would get warm.

5) 6:57 a.m. Cream Male - He is really pretty too, another wool coat. He weighs 10.3 ounces. Oh, I just realized Josie ate the placenta. She must have eaten pup #4's placenta too.

6) 7:05 a.m. Chocolate Male - He is beautiful, a wonderful wool or fleece coat. He weighs 8.5 ounces. Josie is eating the sac and placenta with no gagging now.
I keep putting puppy #4 close to Josie to keep warm.

7) 8:00 a.m. Black Male - He has a gorgeous glossy fleece coat. He weigh 11 ounces.

I had to run out to take Jill to school. I'm keeping Bryony home today so she can help me. Luida is not here today (she has only been coming on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays) and I really need the help. Bryony is sitting with Josie to help. Puppy #4 has not been staying warm. Her breathing is not quite right, but she is trying. She is even crying a bit. I think she is really trying to live, I can't let her stay cold. That wouldn't be comfortable for her. I wrapped her up and put her inside my shirt to warm her. I took her with me to take Jill to school. When we were there I showed her to the teacher and students. One of the parents there named the puppy "Starr". O.k., Starr she is. Starr and I raced back home.

8) 8:57 chocolate Male - Another beautiful puppy boy with a wonderful wool or fleece coat. He weighs 12.6 ounces.

9) 11:20 a.m. Gold Female - She also has a wonderful wool or fleece coat. She weighs 12/6 ounces.

Well, Josie is finished and I am absolutely thrilled with this litter. (except for Starr of course) All of the other puppies are big and healthy with beautiful coats. Yes, there aren't very many girls but that doesn't bother me at all. DaVinci saved this litter. If it wasn't for him nailing Josie after the failed attempt to breed her with another stud, she wouldn't have had any puppies. All these beautiful boys are better than no puppies at all.

Anyway, I need to get busy. I have sick puppy to bring to health. Yes, Starr's is more severe than Ellie's, but she can over come it. First we went to the credit union to get some money. The teller there held Starr and said a prayer. Then we went to the store so I could get some goat milk to make some formula to tube her. (oh, of course I have already tube fed her some corn syrup and Normal Saline) Then we went to the animal hospital to pick up Tinkerbelle (the mini multigen Goldendoodle) who just had her hips checked. The vet left a message that Tink has the best hips he has seen lately. Hooray. I handed Starr to the tech and asked her to show the vet. The vet was not in just then, he was out to lunch. Ugh! How could he be out right then? I needed him. Starr needed him.

We rushed home, I made some formula, then tube fed her. I also give her some corn syrup for an extra boost. An hour later I tube fed her again. She just isn't perking up like I would like. I kept listening to her with the stethascope and she seems to have a very poor air exchange. She also isn't maintaining her body temperature. I just have to try harder. I called my regular vet to make sure he could see Starr if I rush her right in.

So, Starr and two of Duchess' puppies and I went to the vet. I had her wrapped up and in my bra to do my best to warm her. By the time we got to the vet, Starr was all but dead. She listened to her and said Starr had aspirated the amniotic fluid and would be dead before we made it out of the office. She was correct. Gosh darn it. The vet also looked at Princessa and Buddy. Princessa has a spot in her spay incision that looks like it might be getting infected. Buddy's toe with the surgery is really swollen. The vet gave (sold) me antiboitics and said they will be just fine.

Jill helped me bury Starr. She kept asking if someone shot the puppy. Guess I better not watch any more Law and Order until after she is in bed.

Holly's guardian mom took her to Chevy's house so they (Holly and Chevy) could mate. The two guardian moms supervised. Holly kept trying to show Chevy what to do, he was interested but just didn't get it done.

Almost forgot, today's vet bills = $724.00.

6 healthy puppies so far

Monday, August 28, 2006

Josie's temperature is 98 degrees today. That means we should have puppies today. She has been panting all day, very clingy to me, whining off and on, and just plain 'ole acting distressed.

Now it is 9:50 pm and she hasn't started having them yet. She is whining and crying now. I need to go lay down by her and keep her company now. nitey nite
Josie and Da Vinci are back. Josie is acting like she is going to have her puppies and day now. Her temperature is still up around 101. That is normal for a dog. When it makes a sudden drop to 98 or so, that tells us she will have the puppies in 12 to 24 hours. She is panting and looking realllly big. Here, see for yourself.
A huge Josie looking at Princessa.
She and Da Vinci have been good as gold, even to the little puppies they have never met before.

Josie's temp is 100 now.

I feel like I'm on vacation now. This is wonderful. We just have Velvet
and the three tiny Duchess puppies. Now would be the perfect
opportunity to finish ripping up the carpet and doing the floors, or
going away for the weekend, or painting, or making a bunch of soap, or
canning stuff, or or or... so much to choose from.

Josie will be
coming over any day now to have her puppies. The earliest those puppies will be
able to go home would be around Halloween or so. DaVinci is coming with her. He will be here for a month or so. Rosie will be coming around Sept. 20th
to have her puppies. The earliest her pups will be able to leave
would be around Thanksgiving. Holly just started her cycle. If she gets
pregnant her pups will be due around the beginning of November and
ready to leave the beginning of the year. That means this is the last
chance to do something for the rest of the year.

I just goofed off and did nothing today. It was wonderful.

Oooh, Liuda cried today. When she came in this morning and found out Kori had been adopted out, she was so sad. She really loves Kori. I've been trying to get her to take her but she already has a Lab and doesn't want another dog just now.

Somebody came over today to look at Petula and ended up falling in love with Princessa instead. They really like her mellow personality.
Does this look like a mellow puppy to you? Now they are trying to decide between getting Princesa or being a guardian family.
This is Buddy. He is the one with the amputated toe tip. He is doing very well.

Today was an emotional roller coaster.

Kori found her forever family. A family that is in our homeschool co-op adopted her. They live out in the country on a nice size property complete with a pond. They have three girls ages 5, 8, and 11. They homeschool so there is almost always someone home. The husband is going to take her to work sometimes. They do have a small dog so she will have a doggie buddy to play with. They just seem like the perfect family for her. They were so excited. This morning when I told Jill that Kori was going to get a new family, she said "I'm going to get a new family too, with Kori". I had some 'splainin' to do. When Kori left, Jill didn't seem to mind at all. Bryony on the other hand...poor Bryony cried and then yelled at me later. This can be a tough business.

Rosie is pregnant! Rosie is pregnant! I'm so excited. This is Rosie, she is an F1 Labradoodle.
She is like the perfect F1. She has a great build, apricot-red coat, and she doesn't shed. We bred her with an F1 Goldendoodle. He is Brewer's Sargeant Pepper from Brewer's Goldendoodles. Here is his picture They are going to make some wonderful puppies. I'm hoping for the perfect service dog. They will also be great for people who can't decide between a Labradoodle and a Goldendoodle.

Chevy! Chevy can be the daddy of Holly's litter! Now why didn't I think of that earlier? He is Koby's grandson so has that nice poodley coat that can compliment a hair coat. He is DaVinci's son so has that great disposition and build, and he is cream. He and Holly together will have an all cream litter. Chevy only very recently completed all his health testing so I didn't think of him earlier.

Louis went home today. That leaves three Duchess/Rusty puppies left. Really, I'm not in any hurry for them to go. They are quiet, not smelly, and so little and cute. If they would just stay out from under our feet. They all had their immunizations today.

Poor little Buddy woke up from his nap screaming as in pain. I gave him some pain medication and will keep giving him some for the next couple of days at least. I hadn't given him any before before he was running around and not showing any signs of pain.

Holly is in heat! She missed on her last cycle so we have to breed her this time. I've been planning all along on breeding her with Koby. Really I'm just not sure that would be best. That would give us an entire litter of black puppies. Black puppies are very cute, I just don't want an entire litter of them. I could breed her with Mars of Sierra Vista, but we did AI with our Rusty last cycle and she didn't get pregnant. I would prefer to do a natural breeding this time. I could see about hiring Jack from Doodle Quest again. He sired her litter before and the puppies are superb. If we did that, we would have to pay a stud fee, do the progesterone testing, and make a couple of trips down there. It would be worth it though. I'll sleep on it.

Look at how well Petula has healed from her spay surgery.
Jill and Petula.

The drawback of raising puppies in the house under foot is they really are under foot.

These little Duchess' puppies are so little and they keep getting under our feet when we walk. I keep stepping on them. Once I even stepped on Petula with my full weight. She yelled, but kept right on jumping around with no limping so I knew she was o.k. Last night my husband stepped on Buddy. The poor puppy cried and limped just a little off and on. I didn't feel any broken bones and he was able to bear weight. Well, this morning he was limping and holding up his paw. I took Louis in to the vet at 8:30 to be neutered. The vet said he would call as soon as he was done and that I could bring Buddy in then for an x-ray. He called at 10:30 and I went over there. The tech said I just needed to drop Buddy off because they were too busy to get to him right them. Ugh! That is a 30 minute drive each way. I was really hoping to be able to wait and not have to make an extra trip. All day kept looking at the clock and wondering and waiting for the vet to call. Finally at 4:00 pm I couldn't stand it anymore and I called them. The tech said yes, he is ready for me to pick up now. She didn't say if his leg was broken or not. When I went there they didn't say what was wrong, they just told me what today's charges are. It was $373.00 for today. Man, that was dropping the bomb on me. I didn't pay for Louis' neuter this morning. They said to wait until I picked Buddy up. So I looked at the bill and this is what was on it: Neuter-canine (no surprise), Laser surgery (that increased the neuter by 50%), Dental extraction-normal (o.k., I do have the vet check the teeth and pull the canines if they are not coming right), isoflo (hmmm), Surgery other remove nail (what?! um, it looks like Buddy had surgery and I didn't even know it!), amoxi drops, Hospitalization-small dog. Well of all things. They went to get the vet to come talk to me (ya think?). It turns out Buddy broke his nail clear through right inside the skin. The vet went in and removed the nail and the tip of the toe. That makes perfect sense and I definately would have given the go-ahead had he called me first. Still, I think it would have been nice to know before going to pay the bill. He and Louis both seem just fine.

Louis is scheduled to be neutered tomorrow. He is doing really well with using the litterbox. When I was cleaning today I moved the box in another room for a little bit. He went right over to it and peed in it. Good boy. Petula is actually doing well with going outside. The pups went outside several times today for only about 15-20 minutes each time. Each time she peed as soon as she got outside. I've been a bit over protective with this litter and haven't let them outside much at all. I also haven't put them in a crate by themselves much. I don't know...these guys are just sweet little babies and I can't stand to hear them cry. I don't know why that bothers me so much more with these puppies than with the other pups we've had.

Did I ever mention that Lacey and Chevy's hip scores came back good and they are ready to breed, but not together? Next to be tested will be Tinkerbelle the mini Goldendoodle, and Tucker (Rosie's boy).
Louis (Duchess/Rusty) found a family today. A family came over today to see the puppies and fell in love with him. He is going to hang out here until after he gets neutered. He is the only one that hasn't been altered yet. I was waiting until after he was chosen. He is breeding quality and didn't want to take away his chances of landing a stud job.

Josie and DaVinci live together in the same guardian home. Their little human boy has been having extra allergy/asthma troubles and is going to have to undergo extensive testing. J & D have to move out for three weeks during the testing. It just so happens that Josie is due to come here to have her puppies in a couple of weeks anyway. DaVinci will just come here with her.

Velvet needs to go to camp for a few weeks. Any volunteers?

For real now, Kori needs to find a new family. I've been on again off again about that. Twice I found great homes with people I know. Both times I backed out. Now I mean it. She needs a great home with children where she will be an inside dog with lots of outside exercise. Oh, and there needs to be another dog in the family that she can play with.

Duchess' puppies are getting cuter by the day. Even the girls are getting cute. I wish I hadn't spayed Petula. She is going to stay tiny. I'm thinking she will be about 15 pounds fully grown. She has such a dainty bone structure. She doesn't act terribly dainty though. She is a fiesty 'lil thing. Here she is Petula
Princessa is getting cute too. I need to get a better picture of her.

This is Buddy. Isn't he just the cutest little guy you've ever seen?
